"She turned"

Kossentini's detailed works explore the conjugation of Arabic words in the past tense feminine, focusing on the beat and musicality of these words that follow a certain rhythm. The layering mimics the vibration of the words. The series "Tumadhir’s Walk" is a tribute to actions in the making, of thinking while taking a journey to absorb one's steps and vibrations. Leading to a common path where the voice intervenes in the composition, the artist gives a rhythm to what is visually perceivable creating a mental image while hearing the words dancing to the vibrations coming from within. The work of Nicene Kossentini is an invitation to experience a symbiosis with a space of life that is both close and uncertain. Playing with black and white contrasts and zones of semi-visibility, Kossentini creates singular and minimalist environments.
