Thameur Mejri surprises us with an immediate and straightforward reaction on the canvas. He experimented with a new pictorial approach by abandoning his colour palette for the Manichaeism of black and white. He remembers his workshop in Bhar Lazreg, this dilapidated district among many others. The landscape that haunts him projects him into the uncertain future of his country. Mejri paints while screaming noiselessly. He expresses his fear and his anxieties by transforming his painting into an organized chaos. The artist revolts in his drawings by invoking the collective memory through everyday objects and emblematic symbols of Tunisia.
