Nadia Ayari has exhibited internationally at leading institutions including MoMA PS1, New York; Saatchi Gallery, London; and the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden, Marrakech, among others. Her work is held in major public and private collections worldwide.

Selma Feriani Gallery is pleased to participate in the inaugural edition of CONDUCTOR: Art Fair of the Global Majority, held at Powerhouse Arts in Brooklyn, New York. The gallery presents new work by Nadia Ayari as part of the fair’s Special Projects section, curated by Adriana Farietta in collaboration with Eric Shiner.

Bringing together artists and galleries from across Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, and Indigenous Nations worldwide, CONDUCTOR foregrounds critical perspectives from the Global Majority at a decisive cultural moment. The fair’s Special Projects section offers a focused platform for ambitious, conceptually driven presentations that engage with urgent contemporary concerns.

Nadia Ayari’s practice is distinguished by richly textured paintings that navigate the space between abstraction and figuration. Drawing on forms inspired by the flora of her native North Africa, Ayari constructs immersive pictorial environments populated by hybrid, resilient protagonists. Her compositions evoke states of tension, adaptation, and survival, reflecting on the conditions of life in the Anthropocene. Through the dense, methodical application of oil paint, her surfaces acquire a tactile presence, lending physicality and emotional resonance to the spaces she depicts.
