Graduated from the regional school of Fine Arts in Azazga, he lives and works in Béjaïa (Algeria). In his work, Baouche plays with dystopian concepts that he merges with power dynamics that govern the human relationships, mainly those of authority, oppression and resistance. He gives a special attention to all forms of collective imaginaries and the elements that shape them, dissecting the key players and archetypes that influence their construction. These archetypes are often depicted in his work in a form of naïve characters, sometimes, shred bodies placed on plaster backgrounds. Baouche believes that not only must there be a form, but also colours and archaic models such as those found in the remains of ancestral civilizations, such as cave paintings, sculptures, ceramics and other sorts of vestiges that are evocative of both the ephemeral and the constancy. His pieces are created in performative and conscious gestures, while being aware that they are eventually doomed to fall apart and transform into vestiges of posterity. His work is multidisciplinary and includes painting, drawing, ceramics and installation.
